The Absolutely Dismal Amount Of Money Shia LaBeouf’s New Movie Made At The UK Box Office

There's no way to sugar coat it, Man Down had an awful start to its tenure at the UK box office over the weekend. That's because the film grossed the sum total of $8.40 (£7), which equates to it selling just one single ticket. But there might be one little silver lining to the dismal performance of the Shia LaBeouf-led war thriller, because by performing so poorly, it has surely broken some kind of world record.

Man Down never really stood much of a chance of making an impact at the box office across the pond, though, as it actually only played in one location in the country, according to Variety. For those of you that are interested, it was shown in Burnley's Reel Cinema, while it was also released simultaneously digitally on demand. Those of you who missed it and don't live close to the Northern haven that is Burnley will still be able to catch Man Down in the next few weeks, as it's being released on DVD and Blu-ray next month.

All of which suggests that not only has the theatrical release of low-budgeted films like Man Down now become an afterthought, they're quickly becoming a giant waste of time, too. Something that is frankly rather depressing for those of us that love the cinema-going experience and think it's integral to making movies so magical.

Of course, there's no need to completely overreact just yet. Maybe this was just a one-off case of a film being released in the wrong place at the wrong time, especially since absolutely no promotional work or planning seems to have been done to coincide with Man Down hitting cinemas. Those of you who want to try and figure out for yourself whether or not Man Down is worth a watch can check out its trailer below.
